What is in each toolkit?
We have designed three event toolkits that use film to explore themes within deaf heritage and deaf culture: communities, identities and creativity.
The toolkits contain everything you need to independently organise your event, including links to stream or download the films, event marketing material, background content on the themes with specially designed discussion activities as well as further links to resources and information.
Communities
This toolkit explores the meaning and changing future of community spaces and clubs for deaf people in Scotland.
Films included: Deaf Kilmarnock, Their Story by Scott Campbell and Glasgow Deaf Athletic Football Club by George McGowan.
Identities
This toolkit considers the complexities of identity and the joy and empowerment that can come with understanding and celebrating your own identity and history.
Films included: Discovering Manjeet by Manjeet Cross, Milkshakes & Disability: A Helpful Guide by Andrew Pettigrew and Falling on Deaf Ears by Rachael Dunbar.
Creativity
This toolkit showcases recent and historical deaf creativity in Scotland and encourages conversation about the importance of everyday creativity.
Films included: Deaf Creatives by Ruaridh Lever-Hogg, Scotland, Forgive Me by Will Clark and The Twins of Edzell by Tania Allan
